A history of banks
Banks have been around for ages. Ancient Rome had moneylenders erecting stalls in the courtyard where they conduct business on long benches. The term “bank” is derived from the word banco which means “desk” or “bench.” Like their ancient counterparts, Renaissance bankers in the city of Florence, also had benches covered with cloth where customers can do their transactions.
